Helping students express themselves through movement can build confidence, communication skills, and connection. All About Me Freeze Frames invites students to share something important about themselves without requiring many materials or preparation.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Ask each student to think of something important to them (ex. favorite hobby, food, animal, place, or activity). Give students a few moments to think about how they could show that interest using only their body.
  2. One at a time, invite students to create a freeze frame (a still pose) representing their chosen item.
  3. Have the group guess what the freeze frame represents. Then, allow the student to share more about their choice.

Repeat until every student has had an opportunity to share.

Variations:

Level Down

Level Up

  • Students create three freeze frames that tell a short story
  • Students explain why they chose their pose
  • Challenge the group to connect and stage multiple freeze frames into one larger scene
